Obituary of Mrs. C.E. Christiansen

Mrs. C.E. Christiansen (nee Miss Ingeborg Sorensen) was born in Hyndingholm, Schleswig, Denmark, Oct. 14, 1852, and died at Story City December 31, 1933, at the age of 81 years.
She came to America in the year 1881 and made her home with a sister, Mrs. Hans Ferbitz, in Des Moines, for some time. On March 30, 1885, she was united in marriage to C.E. Christiansen of Story City. Mr. Christiansen preceded her in death July 30, 1917.
Mrs. Christiansen was the mother of four children, Sern of Boone, Charlie of Story City, Mamie, who teaches in the Story City school, and Ida, medical supervisor at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. Since her marriage Mrs. Christiansen lived on their homestead two miles south of Story City until in December, 1915, when she with her family moved to Story City, where she has spent her declining years. Besides her four children she also leaves six grand children and a brother, Rektor Antoni Sorensen in Keil, Germany.
Mrs. Christiansen was one of the oldest members of the Bethel Lutheran church where she took active part in the work of the Lord. She was a good Christian mother, neighbor and friend. As such she will be greatly missed, not only by her children and grandchildren, but also by her many other relatives and friends.
She was buried from the Bethel church January 3, 1934. Her pastor, Rev. G.O. Paulsrud, officiated. The pall bearers were nephews and close friends of the family: Frank Ferbitz and John O. Larson of Jewell, Nels Paulson of Story City, Willard Myres of Ames, Henry Hendrickson of Harlan, and Jens G. Jensen of Hampton. A quartet rendered two appropriate songs. A large audience was present to pay its last respects to this noble mother and friend. Interment was made in the Story City Cemetery.
