THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, August 14, 2010.
Shirley Ann Ishmael, 72, of Colo, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at the Israel Family Hospice House, in Ames. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the United Methodist Church, in Colo, with Pastor Lewis S. Flanigan officiating. Burial of the remains will take place at 1 p.m., at Evergreen Memory Gardens Cemetery, in rural Nevada.
Shirley was born Jan. 16, 1938, in Alden, to Victor Eugene and Hazel Lurene (Corbin) Pauley. On March 31, 2001, she married Leon Thomas Ishmael in Colo. Shirley retired as a supervisor from GFS. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Leon T. Ishmael, of Colo; four daughters, Connie J. (Calvin) McFadden and Diane L. Christian, both of Nevada, Debra S. (Page) Powell, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Dawn D. (Rod) Vasey, of Indianola; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two stepsons, John G. Krabacher II and William H. (Joann) Krabacher, of Florida; three stepdaughters, Arlene S. (Don) Buffington, of Madrid, Sherrie A. (Jeff) Conis, of Pilot Mound, and Kathleen S. (Joseph) Klein, of Wisconsin; a brother, Ronald (Mary) Pauley, of LaGrange, Ga.; five sisters, Virginia Patterson and Violet Corbin, of Nevada, Iva (Robert) Oxley and Doris (Earl) Otto, both of Colo, and Geraldine Biederman, of West Des Moines; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers-in-law, Merle Patterson, Ralph Corbin, and Rick Biederman.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Shirley’s name at the Israel Family Hospice House.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Shirley and her family.
