Marilyn Edith Markley

Aug 9, 1932 - Aug 26, 1997

Marilyn Edith Markley, 65, of Ames died Tuesday of cancer at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Evangelical Free Church in Ames, with the Rev. David Staff officiating. Burial will be in the Story Memorial Gardens.

Marilyn Edith Markley was born in Ames, the daughter of Martin Amos and Edith Inez (Lock) Hagen. On Aug. 8, 1950, she married Elmer Markley in Ames. Mrs. Markley was the owner of the Lunch Box Restaurant and retired in 1993. She was a resident of Ames all of her life. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles, and she sponsored a child in Guatemala.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky Mennes of Maxwell and Edie Hughes of Solon; three sons, Terry Markley of Maxwell, Gary Markley of Cambridge and Steve Markley of Sonora, Calif; one brother, Harold Amos Hagen of Santee, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She was precede in death by one brother.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the First Evangelical Free Church.

The Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements.
