THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, July 27, 2010.

Barbara A. Ball, 70, of Nevada, died Monday, July 26, 2010, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m., with the service at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 29, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Barbara Ball was born June 5, 1940, in Sapovatia, Calif., to Ivan and Clara (Ziebell) Cook. She grew up and attended schools in Nevada. She married Clyde Ball on May 9, 1962.

She worked at Nevada Poultry Company and retired from Iowa State University.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde Ball, of Nevada; six children, Claudia (Rick) Atkinson, Penni (William) Vary, Rex Ball, and Connie (Calvin) McFadden, all of Nevada, and Debbie Robinson and Chris Ball, both of Cedar Rapids; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Nelson, of Des Moines, and Jean Page, of Nevada; and two brothers, Ralph (Judy) Cook, of Ankeny, and Rex (Iris) Cook, of Lisbon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandson, Kaleb Hapes; three brothers, Irvin, Franklin and Gary Cook; and two sisters, Dorothy Benda and Gela Sutherland.
