THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, July 27, 2010.

Maxine P. Morrison, 62, of Ames, went home to the Lord from her residence Sunday, July 25, 2010. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at LifePointe Church in Ames, with Pastor Gary Pilcher officiating. Burial will follow in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Maxine Morrison was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Boone, to Denny and Mabel Hughes. She attended Boone schools. On June 28, 1975, Maxine and Richard Morrison were married at Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames.

Through the years, she was employed by Ames Community Schools, served as a nurse’s aide both publicly and privately, and managed a number of apartment complexes in Ames as well as in San Diego. She enjoyed painting, drawing, gardening, and was an avid genealogical researcher tracing her roots back to King Gustav Vasa, of Sweden. She also was an active member of Women’s Aglow International.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Morrison, of Ames; son, Rick Morrison, of Ames; children, Robin (Victor) Wright-Zaborskiy, of Georgia, Daniel (Cathy) Wright, of Story City, and Jamison Niemeyer, of Ames; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Marilyn (James) Welder, of Madrid, and Sharon (Dennis) Bloomquist, of Boone; and one brother, Donald Hughes, of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She had a caring, compassionate heart for people. She put others needs before her own in all that she did. Her sweet, joyful spirit will be greatly missed.
