Marla K. Rhodes, 65, of Zearing, Iowa died July 5, 2010 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Marla was born August 13, 1944 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Merrill and Doris Rhodes. She graduated from NESCO High School in 1962 and Ellsworth Jr. College in 1964. Marla was a member of the Zearing Christian Church.

Marla was an owner of Subway in Nevada and a member of the following organizations: Nevada American Business Women’s Association, Nevada Rotary, and President of Lincoln Highway Days. Marla was the recipient of the Ron Daehler Memorial Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Marla’s biggest enjoyment was taking photographs of her nieces and her nephews. She also loved taking pictures of nature, animals, flowers and butterflies.

Marla is survived by a brother, Byron (Sandy) Rhodes of Zearing; a sister, DeAnna (Bob) Overman of Johnston; five nieces and nephews - Brett Rhodes, Blake Rhodes, Shauna Callaway, Lynette Wineland, and Chad Overman; sixteen great nieces and nephews and many more loving relatives and friends.

Her parents, Merrill and Doris Rhodes of Zearing, Iowa, preceded Marla in death.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Zearing Christian Church in Zearing, IA, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zearing Christian Church. Interment will be at the Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing, IA is in charge of the arrangements.
