THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, July 6, 2010.

Valerie Jo Peter, 48, of Ankeny, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Valerie was born Dec. 30, 1961, in Hampton, to Vale and Dorothy (Doyscher) Peter. She graduated from Roland-Story High School in 1980, Hawkeye Tech in Cedar Falls in 1982, and Mercy Medical College as physical therapy assistant in May 2010. She was interested in art and painting. She loved life and always had a smile on her face.

She is survived by her parents, Vale and Dorothy Peter, of Roland; two sons, Chris and Cody Peter; one brother, Craig (Dawn) Peter, of Omaha, Neb.; two nieces, Vanna (Terence) Beaston and Laura Peter; two nephews, David Peter and Dylan Peter; and her friend, Tony Goforth.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Kyle Peter.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for her children’s education fund.
