THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, June 29, 2010.

Don Edward Dearborn, 70, of Nevada, died Monday, June 28, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A celebration of Don’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th St., in Nevada, with Pastor David R. Burling officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 30, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada.

Don was born Feb. 13, 1940, in Marshalltown, to Keith Carlyle and Kathryn (Franklin) Dearborn. He was a 1958 graduate of Boone High School. On July 3, 1959, he married Farris Jeanette Beaty-Conley in Boone. He was employed at Graphics Forms in Nevada for 23 years. He retired in 2005 from GFS as vice president/general manager. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Indian Creek Country Club, Pheasants Forever and the Purple Martins Association. He enjoyed watching his Purple Martin birds, golfing, fishing and mushroom hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Farris, of Nevada; two daughters, Suzy (Mark) Wilkinson, of Lake Mills, and Katy (Rod) Middle, of Nevada; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two on the way (due in September); and one brother, Dick Dearborn, of Boone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Emmett; his mother-in-law; his father-in-law; and one nephew.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Don’s name at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Chet Ryan Mortuary has been entrusted with the care of Don and his family.
