THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, June 12, 2010.

Alfred Roswell Wiser, 86, of Ames, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Riverside Manor. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, June 28, at Memorial Lutheran Church, in Ames.

Al was born May 19, 1924, in Naini Tal, India, to William H. and Charlotte Maline (Viall) Wiser. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He later was awarded the Bronze Star medal. He received his master’s of music degree from Northwestern University and was the director of music for the Ames Public Schools for 22 years. He married Edna Price Oct. 25, 1958, in Jefferson.

Al enjoyed music, traveling, the VFW and being a grandfather.

He is survived by one daughter, Pam (Ted) (Wiser) Millen; four sons, Michael K. (Michelle) Wiser, Don R. (Ruthanne) Wiser, Timothy T. (Kim) Wiser, and Tad W. (Hirut) Wiser; one brother, Arthur Wiser; many grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna; and one brother, Edward.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Memorial Lutheran Church organ/music fund.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements.
