THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, May 19, 2010.

Arlene Sansgaard, 93, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday, May 17, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, Iowa. Burial followed at the Story City Municipal Cemetery. There was a visitation of family and friends on Sunday, May 16, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Also, a memorial service will be held at Cedar Crest Apartments on May 22nd, at 10 a.m. in Charles City, Iowa.

Arlene was born January 12, 1917 to Sverdrup and Della (Hovde) Sansgaard in Clear Lake Township, Hamilton County, Iowa. She married George Hall on November 14, 1934. Arlene worked at Collegiate Manufacturing in Ames, and later at the Charles City Library. She lived the last three and a half years at Cedar Crest in Charles City where she enjoyed with the residents coffee every Saturday morning, potlucks, and soup suppers.

Arlene is survived by one son, Richard (Judy) Hall of Charles City, Iowa; one daughter, Alma Baker of Boone, Iowa; one son-in-law, Clarence Borton of Marshalltown, Iowa; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; and seven step grandchildren.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; one infant son, Philip; two daughters, Dorothy Borton and Ruby Borton; four grandchildren, Larry Borton, Jerry Borton, Kenneth Baker, and Christine Herrington; two sons-in-law, Albert Borton and LaVerne Baker; and two brothers, Arnold Sansgaard and Robert Sansgaard.
