Linda J. (Abbott) Ihle (1936-2010)

THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, May 7, 2010.

Linda J. Ihle, 73, of Webster City, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Reverends Mike Kroona and Tony Ede officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 9, at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City.

Linda Jeanine Abbott, daughter of Cadell (Dutch) and Louise Trailor Abbott, was born Dec. 27, 1936, in Sullivan, Ill. She received her education and graduated from Webster City Lincoln High School in 1954. On April 13, 1958, she married Norman Ihle at Church of Christ in Webster City. Linda worked as a telephone operator for North Western Bell in Webster City for more than five years. The couple then owned and operated Variety Auto Sales in Webster City where she had worked for more than 40-plus years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Moose Family Center, both in Webster City. Linda enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and vegetable garden, where she kept a journal of everything she grew to assist her in the next growing season. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of more than 52 years, Norman; sons, Rick (Jenny) Ihle, of Webster City, Tracy (Marlene) Ihle, of Plymouth, Minn., and Chad (Stacey) Ihle, of Maple Grove, Minn.; daughters, Lisa (John) Berglund, of Webster City, Paula (Jeff) Peterson, of South Elgin, Ill., and Cindy (Brian) Diehl, of Humboldt; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Gerry (Linda) Abbott, of Hampton, and David (Kay) Abbott, of Nebraska; sister, Roma (Jack) Schlief, of Dayton; and many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
