SUDDEN DEATH OF LOCAL MAN

HOWARD JONDALL VICTIM OF HEART ATTACK WEDNESDAY EVENING

Howard Jondall died suddenly at his home last Wednesday night at 11:45 o'clock following an attack of heart trouble. He had spent the evening at home with his family and seemed to be as well as usual while playing games with his children. The family all retired about 10 o'clock and later in the night Mrs. Jondall was awakened by her husband's laborious breathing. She immediately summoned medical aid, but he died before help came, shortly before midnight.

He had been afflicted with heart trouble for a number of years and five years ago was critically ill, but he recovered and had worked steadily since that time, seeming to bear up well under his affliction. He was employed most of the time at the Hegland Produce company plant. His family and friends had no intimation that the end was so near and it came as a severe shock.

Howard Leroy Jondall was born at Roland October 2, 1903, and passed away at his home here January 24, 1934, at the age of 30 years, 2 months and 22 days. He was baptized and confirmed by the late Rev. J. N. Sandven, and attended the Roland schools. His boyhood days were spent with his parents on the farm and in 1920 the family moved to town, where he has since resided.

He was united in marriage to Ruby Duea July 19, 1924 Rev. Edward Duea performing the ceremony at Slater. Two children were born, Ronald Steward age 9, and Bernita Olive age 6, who are left with their mother to mourn his loss. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam H. Jondall, a sister, Mrs. Ivan J. Sampson, and three brothers, Clifford, Truman and Floyd Jondall, besides many other relative and friends.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Sam. H. Jondall home and at Salem Lutheran church. Rev. Olaf Holen officiated and was assisted by Rev. Edward Duea of Dows. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery. The pall bearers were Hosea Jondall, Amos Quam, Cyrus T. Grove, Marion Christian, Victor Duea and Palmer Logan.

Those from out of town in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thompson, and Josiah Twedt of Forest City; Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Prescott of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus T. Grove of New Providence; Mr. and Mrs. K. K. Prescott and Alfred Prescott of Popejoy; Mr. and Mrs. Irven Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Johnson of St. Anthony; Mr. and Mrs. Otis Prescott and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Barhite of Alden; Mr. and Mrs. Levi Espeland and Mr. and Obert C Olson [as written] of Jewell; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Duea of Valley Junction; Rev. and Mrs. Edward Duea and family of Dows; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Duea of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. T.
