FATHER DIED LAST WEEK
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Nazarene church in Marshalltown for George Slamal, father of George Slamal, Jr., of this place, who died Monday evening last week following an illness with heart trouble. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery. Those from here in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. George Slamal, Mr. and Mrs. Cecal Rhodes, and Mrs. Sam Bakka.
Mr. Slamal was 66 years old at the time of his death. He had been employed continuously for 48 years by the M. & St. L. railway serving as conductor on passenger trains, most of the time on the main line between Marshalltown and Albert Lea. He was taken ill there years ago, but was able to be around until shortly before he died.
He is survived by his wife in Marshalltown, two sons and four daughters, George of this place, Kallin Slamal and Mrs. Lee Annis of Chicago, Mrs. Roy Barker, Mrs. Floyd Sweet and Mrs. Ted Benson, of Marshalltown.
