Mrs. John Morris, Sr., whose maiden name was Delilah Alice See, daughter of Missouri and Mickey See, was born in Story county January 24, 1862 and lived in Story county all her life.
She was married to John Morris in 1887 at the home of her parents seven miles southwest of Zearing. To this union were born, William of Meservey, Hazel Elwell of Zearing, Zina Bailey of Chadron, Neb., John Russell, Ervin and Ross of McCallsburg, and she leaves 15 grandchildren.
She was of of a family of eight children, four of whom have preceded here in death. Those living are Frank of Florida, Jennie Selover of Sious City and Mary Stinson of California.
She was a long time member of the Evangelical church. She passed away at her home in McCallsburg July 31, 1933, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 7 days.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church with Rev. H. N. Bakke, pastor of the Lutheran church, officiating. The pall bearers were O. A. Moklebust, Andy Thompson, W. H. Reid, N. H. Nelson, John Schauper and J. S. Thompson. The flowers were cared for by Mrs. R. E. Baumgardner and Mrs. Andy Thompson. A trio, Mrs. F. E. Nail, Miss Catharine Craig and A. G. Graves, with Miss Cleo Tett at the piano, sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," and "Asleep in Jesus," and at the home sang "Nearer My God to Thee." Burial was made in the Warren township cemetery.
