5 December 1907Carl G. Hougland Dead
Relatives here were shocked Tuesday of last week to receive a message from Marshalltown stating that Carl G. Hougeland was dead, having passed away on Monday, November 25, 1907, being about 23 years old when called to the Great Beyond. He had been sick only two months with acute pulmonary tuberculosis.
The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole C. Hougeland, of Marshalltown, and was a grandson of Mrs. Anna Erickson of this place. He was a young man of a quiet and loving disposition and was a young man who gained friends wherever he went.
The funeral was held from the Norwegian Lutheran church at Marshalltown on Wednesday, Rev. O. Qualen conducting the funeral ceremonies, after which interment took place in the Marshalltown cemetery.
Those from here who attended the funeral are: Mrs. Anna Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Erickson, Mesdames H. J. Amensen, L. M. Olson, M. O. Rod, T. C. Jacobson, R. L. Hegland, Messrs Ira and O. J. Erickson and S. O. Birkeland.
The bereaved ones have the sympathy of a large circle of friends here in their hour of sorrow.
