Aged Resident Laid to Rest

The Last Sad Rites Over Ingemon Winterhus Were Held From Bergen Church Last Thursday Afternoon, Rev. Sandven Preaching the Funeral Sermon

Ingemon Winterhus was born in Sande in Ryfylke Stavanager, Norway, Europe, on August 28, 1833 and died at this home in Roland on Tuesday August 23, 1910, lacking only three days of being 77 years old. For several months he has been failing, the cause of his decline being a cancer and for the last two weeks, he was confined to his bed, until Death came to end his suffering. In 1861, he was married and lived with his wife for eight years, when she passed to the Great Beyond. Two years later Oct. 23, 1871, he was again married, his wife now surviving him. He also leaves seven children, Askild, of Norway, Isaac, of Roseau, Minn., Mrs. Bertha Olafson, of Roseau, Minn., Mrs. Lena Ryggelstad of Edmore, S. D., John Winterhus, of Alberta Canada, Bartel Winterhus of Salol, Minn., and Miss Inger Winterhus, who has been staying at home taking care of her father during his sickness. He leaves also eleven grandchildren and numerous friends and other relatives. In 1888 he came to this country with his family and lived for a while at Jewell and in 1892 moved to Roland where they have since resided.

The funeral was held last Thursday afternoon from Bergen church, Rev. J.N. Sandven conducting the funeral services in the absence of his pastor Rev. G. Smedal, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Roland cemetery. Among those who attended the funeral from a distance were Messrs and Mesdames Menzo? Jones, August Kleaveland, Mrs. D. Flogstad, Mrs. E. C. Langland and son Oscar, of Jewell. The Record extends to the bereaved ones its sincere sympathy.
