Mrs. Nils Egeland died at her home in the West Part of town on Tuesday morning, January 31, 1911, after having been confined to her bed for several months. During the past three weeks she has been very low and death had been almost hourly expected.

Betsey Egeland was born in Sjold, Etne prestegjeld, Norway, on February 7, 1830, being 80 years, 11 months and 24 days old, when the message came to her to enter into the haven of rest. In 1859 she was united in marriage to Nils Egeland, and the next year they came to this country, settling in Illinois, where they lived until the summer of 1861, when they came to Story County, living for a time at the Jonas Duea home and later at the Paul Thompson home, when they built a home of their own on the farm, one mile south of town, now owned by G. S. Mason. There they lived until they moved to Roland, with the exception of a few years that they lived on a farm two miles south of town. They moved to Roland in the spring of 1902, and have since made this their home.

Eleven children were born to them, four of whom died in infancy, the seven, who with their father are left to mourn the death of a devoted and loving wife and mother, being Mrs. Mary Erickson, of this place; Engebrigt N. Egeland, of Story City; Mrs. Secilia Barke, of Millwood, Manitoba, Canada; O. N. Egeland, of near this place; Mrs. Olene Onsten, Edward N. Egeland and Mrs. Betsey Anderson, all of this place. Besides these there are a number of other relatives and numerous other friends who will deeply mourn her death.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock from Bergen church, of which congregation she has been a member since its organization. her pastor, Rev. G. Smedal will preach the funeral sermon after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Roland cemetery. The sympathy of the numerous friends of the bereaved family is extended in the hour of their sorrow.
