Aged Resident Passed Away

Rier Skogerboe One of the Older Residents of the Town Died At His Home in the South Part of Town, Tuesday Morning After a Short Illness, Funeral to Be Held on Friday

Rier Skogerboe, one of the older residents of this place, died at his home last Tuesday morning, after a severe illness of a few weeks. He had been poorly for several months, but was not taken seriously ill until a few weeks ago, when his condition became serious, but few of his friends realized that the end was so near and the news of his demise came as a shock to them. Funeral services will be held from Salem church at two o'clock on Friday afternoon.

Rier Skogerboe was born in Aardal, Sogn, Norway on January 3, 1833, and died on Tuesday March 7, 1911, being 78 years, 2 months and 4 days old when called to the Great Beyond. He was united in marriage to Grete Malene Knudsdatter, of Tananger, Norway, October 24, 1866 in Haaland church, Rev. Bockman performing the ceremony. In 1877 they came to this country and lived on a farm two miles southwest of here until 1900 when they moved to Roland. On February 7, 1905, Mrs. Skogerboe died.

On May 31, 1906, he was again united in marriage to Mrs.. Gurine Gaard, of Story City, Rev. L. Guttebo performing the ceremony and she is now left to mourn his death.

Mr. Skogerboe was a quiet and highly respected man among his many friends, who will mourn his death. He was an active member of Salem church having been identified with it since coming to this country. Another of the staunch Norsemen has been called away to await the coming of the Great Master. The sorrowing wife is extended the sympathy of her numerous friends in the hour of her bereavement.
