Iver Sandvold Died Tuesday

Popular Young High School Student Passes Away at Home of His Mother in West part of Town After Having Been Confined to His Bed For Only a Month, Funeral Being Held Today

The death of Iver Sandvold occurred on Tuesday morning at 7:30 o’clock, May 2, 1911, after having been sick in bed for only four weeks. The news, while expected, nevertheless came as a shock to the many friends of the young man. They could hardly realize that one so young, should thus be taken, just as he was entering upon the threshold of manhood. About five weeks ago, he was taken sick with pneumonia, which later affected his lungs and heart and for the last week or two, there appeared to be no hope of his recovery. He was prepared for death and gladly accepted his fate, although he expressed a wish to live for the sake of his mother to whom he was most devoted.

Iver Sandvold was born on the old Iverson homestead southeast of town, on May 30, 1893 and was 17 years, 11 months and 2 days old when he was called to his reward. When still a young boy, he commenced to attend school in Roland and was at present a member of the junior class of the High school, where there is now profound sorrow among his schoolmates. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Carrie Sandvold, besides numerous other relatives and friends to mourn his untimely death.

The funeral was held this afternoon from Bergen church, Rev. K. L. Guttebo, of Huxley, preaching the funeral sermon in the absence of Rev. G. Smedal. The church was filled to the utmost with friends and relatives and the floral decorations were very, very pretty. The schoolmates gave a harp, the Bergen church choir, a wreath, the uncles and aunts, a broken wheel, the cousins, a wreath, and the boy friends a cross.

The sorrowing mother, brother and other relatives are extended the most profound sympathy during the hour of their deep affliction.

Resolution of Condolence

Whereas: It has pleased the Almighty God in His Infinite Wisdom to remove from our midst, Iver Sandvold,

And Whereas: He has been a faithful member of our Young Peoples Christian Association, the Choir the and the Bible Class in Sunday School and,

Whereas: He was a young man of Christian character, noble traits and exemplary habits, be it therefore,

Resolved: That the Young Peoples Christian Association of Bergen church do hereby extend to the bereaved mother, brother and other relatives of the deceased, our most heartfelt sympathy and invoke the comfort and strength of the Almighty God.

And be it further resolved that a copy of these resolutions be presented to the bereaved mother and the same spread upon the records of our association and be published in the Roland Record.
