Aged Lady, Who Passed Away Last Friday Morning, Is Interred in Roland Cemetery, Beside Her Husband, Who Died Some Years Ago
Mrs. Mangella Kittelson was born in Osterheim, Norway, April 26, 1830, and died at her home here on Thursday morning, September 30, 1909, being 79 years, 5 months and 4 days old when her life's thread was severed. She was married in Norway to Thore T. Thorson, to which union three children were born, but only one now lives, namely, Thor Thorson, who has lived with his mother here for a number of years. Her husband died in Norway, and a few years later she came with her son to this country, settling in Illinois, where she resided for two years, when she moved to Roland. In 1868 she was married to John Kittelson, to which union four children were born, they being Mrs. Lena Skeie, of Marshalltown; Mrs. Thomas Skeie, of Marshalltown; Mrs. Eli Hoffman, of Marshalltown; and Mrs. Sam Thompson, of Marshalltown. Her husband died about 15 years ago.
A little more than three years ago she was taken sick and has since been confined to her bed, and it was her constant prayer that she should soon be relived from the sufferings of this world, and move to her Heavenly Father.
The funeral was held last Friday afternoon, Rev. G. Smedal officiating, the church was filled with numerous friends to pay their last respects to the deceased. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.
{NOTE - funeral of Halvor Holland occurred same day]
