Elderly Resident Passes to Rest

At five o'clock on Wednesday evening occurred the death of Halvor Holland, and old resident of this place, after several months sickness. The funeral will be held from Bergen church on Friday afternoon at two o'clock.

Halvor Holland Rests in Grave

Halvor O. Holland Laid to Rest Last Friday in Roland Cemetery - A Large Number Attend Funeral - Was Nearly Eighty Years Old

Halvor S. [O.] Holland was born in Sovde, Norway, August 18, 1830, and died at his home in Roland on Wednesday evening, September 29, 1909, being 79 years, 1 month and 11 days old when called to rest. He was married in Norway to E. Ovedatter Holland, in April 1863, to which union ten children were born, three of them having passed to the Great Beyond some years ago.

The remaining children are Ole H. Holland, living north of town; Mrs. Knudt Aarthun, of this place; Ove Holland, living north of town,; Mrs. Lewis Solvig, of near Radcliffe; Mrs. F. C. Rogers, of near this place; John H. Holland, of near Monterey, Minn.; Miss Bertha Holland, who is still at home. Besides his wife and seven children, he leaves 32 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, besides numerous other relatives and friends, to mourn his death.

Thirteen years ago they came to this country, living one year with their son, Ove Holland, but the next year they built a home of their own in Roland, and have since resided here. For several months he has been confined to his bed from the general decline of old age, and he welcomed death as relieving him from the troubles of this earth, content that he had a home beyond awaiting him.

The funeral was held from Bergen church on Friday afternoon, Mrs. Mangella Kittelson being buried at the same time. The church was filled with loving friends who wished to pay their kind respects to the family in their hour of sorrow. Rev. G. Smedal officiated, after which the remains were interred in the Roland cemetery.
