Swen O. Roe was born near Calamus, Iowa, December 7, 1865 and died at his home at Story City, March 9, 1909, being 43 years, 3 months and 2 days old, when called to the Great Beyond.

When but a child he came here with his parents, who bought a farm southeast of town where they lived until a few years ago. He was married to Miss Bertha Larson, September 12, 1900, who now with their two children is left to mourn his death. Besides these, he leaves his mother, Mrs. O. S. Roe, four sisters, Mesdames Gust Hanson and O. M. Olson and Miss Anna Roe of Story City and Mrs. A. E. Hines, of Marshalltown, and one brother, Hon. Ole O. Roe of Des Moines. For several years he has worked the old homestead, but finding that his health was failing, he moved to Story City, where he made provisions for a home for his family, before he should be called away.

The funeral was held from Bergen church last Saturday forenoon, Rev. G. Smedal officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Roland cemetery. The bereaved ones have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends in the hour of their sorrow.
