28 May 1908Killed in Tornado and Cloudburst
Martin J. Teig (Tvedten) of South Omaha, but formerly of this place, and his son, Arthur, aged 13 were killed in a tornado in Omaha on May 12th.
Mr. Teig was janitor of a school house in South Omaha and was driving home in company with his son, but when within forty rods of their home, the storm struck them, throwing them into a ravine, which quickly filled up with water, and those who saw the accident cannot say whether they were killed by the storm or drowned. Their bodies were found nearly a mile from the place where the storm struck them.
The deceased leaves a wife and four children to mourn his untimely death.
The funeral was held Friday, May 15, Rev. Hendrickson of the Norwegian Synod officiating and a very large number of people were present. T J. Jacobson, who was on his way here from New Mexico, learned of the tragedy the next day and hurried to Omaha, reaching there in time for the funeral.
