Young Lady Passes Away

Clara Cherland Died at the Home of Her Sister Last Tuesday After Several Years Illness, Funeral Held on Thursday Afternoon

Miss Clara Cherland was born on April 26, 1892 and died on Tuesday, July 18, 1911, being 19 years 2 months and 22 days. The young lady had been poorly for several years with heart trouble and during the past four months had been staying with a brother near Humboldt, returning home the Saturday previous to her death, and seemed to be better at that time, but on Sunday she became worse and gradually sank and death ensued as above stated. She was at the J. T. Chelsvig home at the time of her death.

The deceased is the daughter of T. O. Cherland, living about eight miles northeast of here and besides her father, she leaves one sister, Mrs. J. T. Chelsvig, and four brothers, Ole Cherland, of Highmore, S. D., Carl Cherland, of Blue Earth, Minn., John Cherland, of Humboldt, Tom Cherland, of Radcliffe. All of them were present at the funeral.

The funeral was held from Zion church, northeast of here, Rev. G. Smedal officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery by the church. The sorrowing family is extended the sincere sympathy of their numerous friends.

The following from a distance attended the funeral, Messrs and Mesdames John Cherland of Humboldt, Iowa, Carl Cherland, of Blue Earth, Minn., Joe Strokesbury, Corwith, Iowa, Mesdames Anna Soppeland, of Badger, Iowa, Carrie, Gusteson, Martha White, Christine Troester, of Marshalltown, and Mr. Ole Cherland, of Highmore, S. D.
