Lawrence 'Baldy' Duane Baldwin Sept. 22, 1940 to Dec. 7, 2003

Lawrence "Baldy" Duane Baldwin, 63, of Collins, died Sunday, Dec. 7, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

He was born Sept. 22, 1940, in Farrar to Wayne and Ruth (Moreland) Baldwin. He graduated from Bondurant-Farrar High School in 1959. He served in the Iowa National Guard. He had worked at Armstrong-Pirelli Rubber Company in Des Moines until retiring in 1988. He then worked for Younkers in Des Moines until retiring in 2002. He was a member of Union Local #164. He enjoyed his grandchildren, the New York sports teams (Jets, Giants and Yankees), politics, country music and playing the Lottery.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Baldwin of Collins; two sons, Edward Baldwin of Altoona and Michael (and Alyson) Baldwin of West Branch; a daughter, Kelley (and Shain) Ball-Birchmier of Maxwell; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Sue Oaks of Webster City and Deb Palmer of Urbandale.

His father preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Burial was in the Graham Cemetery near Mingo. Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell handled arrangements.
