THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, April 9, 2010.

Dorothy Ann (Dottie) Dobbe Wallize, 80, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Riverside Nursing Home in Ames. Family visitation will be at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames, followed by a celebration of life service at 1 p.m., a light lunch and burial in Palestine Lutheran Church cemetery in Huxley. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor David Beagley, of Memorial Lutheran Church.

Dorothy Ann was born May 21, 1929, in Sioux County, and moved to Huxley as a young girl. She lived most of her lifetime in Huxley and Ames. She was employed as a private secretary to Clair E. Wilson of Clair Wilson Realty for many years, Iowa State University and other companies in Ames.

She loved her friends and family very much. She was beautiful both inside and out and made many friends with her sparkling personality and fun-loving manner. She made many wonderful and fun memories with her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, John Wallize, of Wachahatchee, Texas; two daughters, Sonja (Alan) Freeland, of Northfield, Minn., and Cynthia Roberts, of Ames; two stepdaughters, Lee Ann (Jude) Smith, of Oakleaf, Texas, and Pam Wallize, of Minneapolis.; grandsons, Tim (Lori) Freeland, of Northfield, Minn., and Andy (Sara) Freeland, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Ullrich, of Iowa City, and Susan Ullrich, of Texas. Dottie had five great-grandchildren, Rylie Anne, Kayla, Jake, Gus and Kermit, all of Minnesota. She is also survived by one sister, Lorraine (LaVerne) Richardson, of Granada Hills, Calif., as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sanford and Pearl (Wagley) Dobbe; three brothers, Marion, Gene and Glen; one stepdaughter, Inga Wallize; and one stepson-in-law, Gary Ullrich.
