THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

Royal Chris Westberg, 66, of Ames, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010, while in residence at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., with the funeral service at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 25, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Born in Humboldt, Royal had lived in Ames for the last 33 years. After serving in the military from 1962 to 1965, he then worked as a heavy equipment operator for various contractors. He spent the last 18 years employed with Story County, retiring in 2009.

Heis survived by his wife of 43 years, Kim (Andersen) Westberg; one daughter, Holly (Donald) Ramsey, of Tacoma, Wash.; one son, Chris (Nancy) Westberg, of Ankeny; five grandchildren, Tanner, Preston and Carlee Westberg, and Nathan and Thomas Ramsey; siblings, Robert (Linda) Westberg, Mary Ann (Don) George, and Marie (Jack) Haas, all of Humboldt, Wayne Westberg, of Woolstock, and Janette George, of Fort Dodge; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Gladys Westberg; and two brothers, Gary and Larry Westberg.
