THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

David DuWayne Lenning, 55, of Nevada, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at First United Methodist Church, 1036 Seventh St., in Nevada, with Deacon Brenda Hobson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 19, at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada.

Dave was born Feb. 25, 1955, in Nevada, to Kermit and Joan (Cooper) Lenning. He was a 1973 graduate of Nevada High School. Dave was a utilities technician at Burke Marketing Corporation. He was confirmed in the Memorial Lutheran Church and attended First United Methodist Church. On April 12, 1975, he married Toni Vannorsdel in Nevada. He had a great love for his family, John Wayne and cowboy-ing up.

He is survived by his wife, Toni, two sons, Nathan and Corey (Meesha), his parents, and two sisters, Gale (William) Lingenfelter, all of Nevada, and Julie Scott, of Paris, Texas; and 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Anne.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dave’s name at First United Methodist Church in Nevada. Memorials also may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
