Mabel Lucile Alfred, 95, of Ames passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Visitation was held Wednesday, March 10 at Adams Funeral Home with services following. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Mabel was born March 28, 1914 in Nevada, Iowa to Montague and Sophie (Sorenson) Hansen. She graduated from Milford High School in 1932. Mabel married Joe Alfred November 26, 1936 at her home in Nevada. Mabel was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and B.L.C.W. She enjoyed playing bridge and 4H club work. Mabel worked for the city of Ames and the DOT.

She is survived by her daughter: Mary Jo Charleston (Bob) of Watkins, CO, granddaughter: Jodi (Charleston) Schaus (Michael), and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Joe (1994), sister: Gladys Hattery and brother: George Hansen.

Memorials may be directed to Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements.
