Ione H. Myers, 79, of Nevada, died on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Story County Senior Care. Funeral services are pending with Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Ione Helen Myers, 79, of Nevada, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Story County Senior Care. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th St., Nevada, with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Ione was born on April 3, 1930, in McCallsburg to Martin and Ora (Anfinson) Tjelmeland. She was a 1948 graduate of McCallsburg High School. On June 1, 1948, she married William H. “Bill” Myers at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church. Ione enjoyed playing bridge, baking, watching sports, camping and being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Larry E. (Crystal) Myers, of Nevada, and Dennis W. (Nancy) Myers, of Marshalltown; three daughters, Karen (Craig) Wilcox, Diane (Dave) Gibbs, all of Brooklyn, and LuAnn (Dan) Volk, of Grinnell; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clifford Tjelmeland, of Marshalltown, Kenneth Tjelmeland, of Augusta, Maine, and Lester Tjelmeland, of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and one sister, Bev Shalley, of Mesa, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, on Nov. 6, 1994; one sister Arlet, and three brothers, Eugene, Harlan and Myron Tjelmeland.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Memorial Lutheran Church.
A memorial fund has been established in Ione’s name.
Chet Ryan Mortuary has been entrusted with Ione and her family.
