THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, March 6, 2010.

March 28, 1914-March 5, 2010

Mabel Lucile Alfred, 95, of Ames passed away Friday, March 5, at Rolling Green Village, Nevada.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Adams Funeral Home, with services to follow at 2 p.m.

Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Mabel was born March 28, 1914, in Nevada, to Montague and Sophie (Sorenson) Hansen. She graduated from Milford High School in 1932.

She married Joe Alfred on Nov. 26, 1936, at her home in Nevada. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and B.L.C.W. She enjoyed playing bridge and 4-H club work. She worked for the city of Ames and the DOT.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Charleston (Bob), of Watkins, Colo., one granddaughter, Jodi (Charleston) Schaus (Michael); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe (1994); one sister, Gladys Hattery; and one brother, George Hansen.

Memorials may be directed to Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
