THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 25, 2010.

David A. Bothe, 57, of Ames and more recently of Fort Dodge, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, in the loving care of his family and Trinity Hospice. A celebration of David’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 400 S. 13th St., in Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1615 N. 15th St., in Fort Dodge.

In honor of David’s memory, friends and family members are encouraged to wear their favorite Cardinal red and gold apparel to his service on Saturday.

David Allen Bothe was born Dec. 17, 1952, in Fort Dodge, the son of Richard and Mildred (Telschaw) Bothe. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School, Fort Dodge Senior High and graduated from Mankato State. For the past 25 years, he lived in Ames, where he was employed with the postal service of Iowa State University.

He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames. He was an avid Cyclone fan and attended Iowa State sporting events whenever he could. He traveled extensively with his family. He had a great love for reading which he passed onto his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed attending many family activities and watching his nieces and nephews participate in their athletic events.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Bothe, and his brothers, Dick (Janel) Bothe and Jim Bothe, all of Fort Dodge; his nieces and nephews, Amanda (Jared), of Salisbury, N.C., Ericka (Cory), of Fort Dodge, and Jason (Rachael), of Farnhamville; three great-nieces, Bailey, Lexi and Gracie; and one great-nephew, Cale.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard, and one niece, Bridget.

Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
