Jesse Torgeson, 94, of Ames, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Jesse N. Torgeson, 94, of Ames, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, surrounded by his family at Green Hills Health Center in Ames. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames.
Jesse Torgeson was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Mitchell, S.D., the son of Nels and Josie Torgeson. He married Doris Hendrickson Dec. 27, 1939. She died June 15, 1997. He married Jean Crovisier March 9, 1998.
He was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed all of God’s creation: the land he farmed, the cattle he raised, the lakes he fished and his family. To the people closest to him, he was a compassionate gentle man who loved spending time with his family; a quiet man of faith.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Ames; four children, Linda (Roger) Hudgins, of Dunkerton, Craig (Ida) Torgeson and Kevin (Linda) Torgeson, of Radcliffe, and Brent (Angie) Torgeson, of Story City; three stepdaughters, Patricia (Greg) Walters, of Fort Collins, Colo., Nancy (Michael) Rickard, of Traer, and Judy (Jim McRae) Crovisier, of Frisco, Texas; six grandchildren, Kent (Marla) Hudgins, Rodney (Tami) Hudgins, Dawn (Paul) Skinner, Sheri (Jim) Severseike, Stephanie Torgeson and Lisa Torgeson; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents; and an infant brother and sister.
