Memorial services for Donna Liming, of Ames, will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames.
Donna was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Ellsworth, to Harold and Gertie (Lunning) Lindebak. The family moved to Radcliffe when she was one year old. She graduated from Radcliffe High School and taught rural school for two years. On July 11, 1944, she married Lenard Liming, and when he returned from the military, they lived in Radcliffe for one year and then moved to Des Moines. They graduated from cosmetology school in 1948 and moved to Sioux City, where Lenard attended barber school. Ames has been their home since 1949. She worked in cosmetology for 43 years, and he worked for ISU until their retirement. They enjoyed church activities, golf, bowling, family and friends and winters in Arizona.
Donna died of pancreatic cancer Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bob Ratliff, of Bondurant, and grandchildren, Chris Ratliff, Joseph Wilson and Scott Ratliff; daughter, Linda Fullmer, of Ankeny, and grandchildren, Brooke and Ben Meyer, of Spirit Lake, and Celia and Hilary Fullmer, of Ankeny; one sister, Florence Topp, of Radcliffe; sisters-in-law, Burnette Liming, of Ames, and Colleen Liming, of Janesville; and brother-in-law, Bud Maakestad and his wife, Marge, of Ames. She held a special place in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Edward Lindebak; and two sisters, Ursula Maakestad and Helen Skartvedt.
Memorial contributions may be made to Chaplaincy Fund at Bethany Manor, Bethesda Food Pantry or Israel House.
We celebrate the gifts of love she shared with all who knew her and take comfort in the knowledge that she rests gently in God’s hands with her husband beside her again.
