THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, January 7, 2010.
Beulah O’Neal, 84, of Ames and formerly of Greene County, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone, with the Rev. Jim Shirbroun officiating. A family graveside service and burial will be Monday, Jan. 11, in Paton Township Cemetery in Paton.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral chapel.
Beulah was born Jan. 31, 1925, in Paton, the daughter of Emmanuel and Ethel (Tourte) Benson. She graduated from Dana High School in 1942. In 1945, she graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. On April 7, 1951, she married Walter O’Neal in Paton. In earlier years, she was a school teacher in Greene County. From 1976 to 2003, she worked as a sales clerk at Olive’s Fashion Shoppe in Ames. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and Sunday dinners. She also enjoyed traveling to horse shows, attending dance recitals and spending time with her granddaughter, Kayla. She attended Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shari Williams and husband, Mike, of Boone, and Tammi Adix and husband, Paul, of Ogden; granddaughter, Kayla Williams; and brother, Everett Benson; and wife, Ruby, of Paton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson, Michael James Williams.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion.
