THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, December 8, 2009.

Richard Eugene Zickefoose, 74, formerly of Ames, was promoted to Glory Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, from Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colo.

A graduate of Iowa State University, Richard took a position with the Personnel Department of the Iowa Department of Transportation in 1968, eventually becoming Personnel Manager. He accepted the position of Personnel Manager for the city of Colorado Springs in 1977 and was promoted to Deputy City Manager in 1986. He became City Manager in 1990, a position he held until retiring in 1995.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gretchen, and their five sons, William, Richard, John, Robert and James, and their families. He is also survived by his sister, Kay Silet and her husband, Loring, of Ames; and many nieces and nephews.
