ZEARING — Kenneth Ostrem, 74, of Zearing, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at his home near Zearing. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Nevada Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Colo Cemetery. Visitation was at 5:00–7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Ken was born August 24, 1935 at Jewell, Iowa, the son of Nolan and Fern (Stensland) Ostrem. He graduated from McCallsburg High School in 1953. Ken was united in marriage to Gloria Scott on April 8, 1956 in McCallsburg. He was a farmer and a carpenter. Ken was a member of the Nevada Baptist Church. Ken loved his grandchildren and chocolate.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Zearing; his daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Rob Shoning of Des Moines; two grandchildren: Adam Turner, Ashley (Christopher) Arnold; one great-grandchild: Jorden Arnold; his mother: Fern Ostrem of Ames; and one sister: Jan (Dick) Wright of Gilbert.

He was preceded in death by his father and one son: Michael Ostrem.

Memorials may be made to the Nevada Baptist Church or to Homeward Hospice.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
