Glen Mackey, 85, of Story City, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Memorial services are being planned at a later date. Soderstrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Glen Mackey, 85, of Story City, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 22, at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Glen was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Boone County, to Glenn R. and Lena (Hermanson) Mackey. He was a 50-year member of 4-H and had a lifelong concern for the environment. He enjoyed family genealogy and writing historical articles for the Story City Herald. He was proud of his antique farm equipment and often showed them in local parades.
He is survived by one brother, George Mackey (Delores), of Story City; children Pam Mackey-Taylor (Wally), Sharon Killoran, Valerie Mackey, Marcia Mackey, and Bradley Mackey; grandchildren, Jeff Taylor, Michelle Taylor (Nicholas Graceffa), Zachary Drennan, Bryan Boss, Kimberly Boss, and David Killoran; and great-grandchildren, Donoven Graceffa and Tallen Graceffa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Mackey; and one son-in-law, Sean Killoran.
