THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, December 4, 2009.
Lois Minnette Schnur, formerly of Colo, died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at her sister’s home in Jacksonville, Fla. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at Colo United Methodist Church.
Lois was born Dec. 11, 1949, in Chicago, to Willard and Mabel (Sterling) Schmalz. She graduated from Foreman High School and Augustana School of Nursing in Chicago.
She was head nurse of the Coronary Care Unit at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago and was studying for her master’s degree in nursing when she met William Schnur at his cousin’s wedding in Chicago. They were married June 5, 1982, in Chicago. After moving to Colo, Lois was employed at Story County Medical Center in the Intensive Care Unit and later as a school nurse at Colo-Nesco School.
Lois served as president of the Colo Preschool Board. She enjoyed making treats for her sons’ grade school classes, baking Christmas cookies and birthday cakes, crafts, and sewing. She enjoyed helping with the fall harvest and loved all animals, especially her pet dogs and cats.
Lois is survived by three sons, Nathaniel William (Jenni Korschgen), Matthew John, and Jacob David (Kelsey McLarnan); and her sister, Linda (Gordon) Kistler.
