Mrs. Mary Toll of Kelley, mother of Mrs. Chas. Hughes of this community, was buried Sunday. She died July 10th after a brief illness which confined her to her bed one week.

Short funeral services were held at the home and the remains were then taken overland to Dallas Center where the funeral was held from the Brethren church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. George E. Cone.

Mrs. Mary Toll, whose maiden name was Mary Caroline Klinzman, was born in Germany, August 23, 1848. When about four years of age she came with her parents to Pennsylvania, where she grew to womanhood.

March 24, 1868, at Clear Spring, Maryland, she was united in marriage to Frederick Toll, who proceded her in death July 29, 1892. She made her home in Maryland and Pennsylvania until 1885 when she came with her husband to Dallas county, Iowa.

In 1901 she moved to a farm near Kelley, Iowa, making her home in Kelley until her death July 10, 1925, aged 77 years, 10 months and 17 days.

Mrs. Toll was a kind and devoted mother, whose cheerful and uncomplaining nature won for her the love and respect of all who knew her.

She was a member of the Brethren church of Dallas Center, Iowa. She leaves to mourn her death five children: Robert, Henry and Frank of Kelley, Iowa; Mrs. Emma Swanson of Lamberton, Minnesota; Mrs. Minnie Hughes of Madrid, Iowa. One sister, Mrs. Sarah Buterbaugh of Dallas Center, also twelve grandchildren with many other relatives and friends.
