THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, October 27, 2009.

Edell Caroldeen (Challe) Woster, 84, of McCallsburg, passed away with her family present Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, of Alzheimer’s disease at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis, Ind. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Burial will be in Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Bethany Lutheran Church.

Edell was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Jewell, to Caroline (Hoversten) Challe and Erick Challe Jr. She graduated from Jewell High School in 1942, from Waldorf Junior College in 1944, and from Drake University in 1968. She married Gordon K. Woster March 13, 1947, in Jewell. She taught elementary school in McCallsburg until she retired in 1987. She loved teaching, singing in the choir, traveling and time with her family.

She is survived by her three children, Sharon (Ernest) Satren, of Bloomington, Minn., Allen (Jeanette) Woster, of Fishers, Ind., and Patrice (Craig) Steinman, of Rapid City, S.D.; and four grandchildren, Michelle (Aaron) Olson, Micah (Tammy) Satren, Kristin and Laura.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gordon.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or McCallsburg American Legion.
