Robert Watson, 82, of Bull Head City, Ariz., and formerly of Ames, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at his son’s home in Ames. Services are pending at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care in Ames.

Robert Lee “Bob” Watson, 82, of Ames, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at his son’s home in Ames. A gathering of friends and family will be from 3 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way in Ames. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Gilbert Lutheran Church.
Bob was born June 21, 1927, in Ames, the son of Elzen and Carrie (Taylor) Watson. He graduated from Milford Township High School. He married Lucille Clouser June 6, 1948, in Nashua. He farmed for 40 years before going into the insurance business. He later went into real estate where he bought, sold and developed property. He enjoyed fishing in Canada, dancing and gardening. The last 17 years, he had enjoyed spending time in Arizona with good friends, and its sunsets and warm climate.
He is survived by his soul mate, Dee Munsey, of Ames; his former wife, Lucille Watson, of Ames; children, Diane (Tom) Laughlin, of Kansas City, Mo., Tim (Judy) Watson, of Story City, Cindy (Steve) Helgeson, of Lakeville, Minn., Kevin (Sue) Watson, of Ames, and Bradley (Shelly) Watson, of Ames; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Phyllis) Watson, of Boone; and extended family, Michele Munsey, of Kalispell, Mont., David (Kathy) Munsey, of Sanger, Calif., Clark Munsey, of Sanger Calif., and Brandon, Mitchell, Neil and Dale Munsey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ray and Elmer Watson.
Memorials may be directed to Mary Greeley Foundation Homeward Hospice.
