THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, October 13, 2009.

Marjorie L. Rolf, 87, of Bethany Manor in Story City, formerly of Ames, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Bethany Manor. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the chapel at Bethany Manor in Story City. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames.

Marjorie was born April 13, 1922, in Tabor, the daughter of Emery Opal and Vera Lee (Edgerton) Smith. She graduated from Nothboro High School. She married David Rolf on Feb. 6, 1943, in Elkins, W.Va. The couple moved to Ames in 1959. She ran a seamstress business from her home where she created formal attire, wedding gowns, and women’s and children’s apparel. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames.

She enjoyed games, camping, reading novels of historical importance and most of all her family. When possible, she loved visiting the places she read about. Politics was her passion. Discussing the events of the day and the world around her never failed to create a lively debate.

She is survived by her husband, David Rolf, of Ames; two daughters, Dava Lynne (Jim) Dahlgran, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Randi (Jack) Morgan, of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; grandchildren, Chris (Kevin) Bettis, of Ames, Kelly (Janeen), of Walker Gap, Pa., Emily (Wolfgang) Weichbrod, of Monroe, Wis., Thomas (Andrea) Morgan, of Seattle, and John Morgan, of Granby, Colo.; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Gerald (Helen) Smith, of Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Bethany Manor Foundation for remodeling or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Online condolences may be sent to www.grandonfuneralandcremationcare.com.
