THE TRI-COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, October 3, 2009.
Clara JoAnne Ihle, 87, of Slater, died September 29, 2009, at the Madrid Home. Services will be held Friday, October 2, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Madrid Home with Chaplain Carla Werre and Pastor Heidi Williams officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9-10:30 a.m. Friday at the Madrid Home. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Clara was born to John and Clara (Brandt) Schumacher in Marathon City, Wis., on April 29, 1922. She married Mervin Ihle on October 14, 1944, in Quonset Pointe, RI. She worked as a bookkeeper at Ihle Implement, and enjoyed her many hobbies, including ceramics, reading, making kringla, playing piano and organ, flowers and gardening, and spending time with family.
Survivors include her children: Everett (Shirley) Ihle of Huxley, James (Sheila) Ihle of Memphis, TN, Mary (Paul) Thompson of Woodward, and Janice (Peter) Schma of Richardson, TX; a brother, Edward Schumacher; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin, on October 27, 1998, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
Memorials are requested to the Madrid Home or Hospice. Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
