Mervin Klaus, 93, of Carroll, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.
Memorials may be given to the Carroll County Historical Society or Israel Family Hospice House.
He is survived by his children, John (Carolyn) Klaus, of Ames, Paul (Janice) Klaus, of Forest Lake, Minn., Robert Klaus, of Amana, and Michael Klaus, of Carroll; son-in-law, Dana Thompson, of Ames; six grandchildren, Renee Klaus, Frank (Leila) Klaus, Stephen (Christine) Klaus, James Klaus, Sarah (Shawn) Klaus-Ryan, and Scott Thompson; five great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence (Leona) Klaus, of Long Beach, Calif.; and two sisters, Janice Karl, of Des Moines, and Donna (Ed) Wilkes, of Palm Desert, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amelia Klaus, in April 1992; one daughter, Annette Thompson; his parents; two brothers, Orlin and Norman Klaus; and one sister, Aileen Grafmyre.
