Final Rites at Pleasant Grove For Grandma Dearth

Funeral services for Mrs. J. C. Dearth, 79, fromer resident of the Pleasant Grove neighborhood, who died at the home of a daughter at Schaller, Iowa, Sunday, were held Tues afternoon at 2:00 at the Pleasant Grove church, followed by burial in the nearby cemetery. Rev. C. E. Lookingbill, pastor of that church, was in charge of the service.

A large group of old neighbors and friends of this respected woman gathered at the old rural church, scene of her earlier day worship, to pay their final tribute of respect to her memory.

The following brief sketch of her life was read by the minister:

"Dora Olive Neale was born in DeWitt County, Illinois, Sept. 12, 1862 and died at Schaller, Iowa, March 22, 1942, at the age of 79 years, 6 months, 9 days. She spent her girlhood in Illinois and was married to J. C. Dearth Sept. 19, 1888. They made their home in Illinois untill 1900 when they came to Iowa. Except for a short time in Minnesota, Iowa has been her home since.

"Into this home was born six children, two of whom died in infancy. Harland D. died at the age of 21 and Lela May Sanders died at the age of 19 on April 26, 1921. Her husband died Dec. 16, 1928. Thus she leaves one son, Ora, and one daughter, Bessie Kleist of Schaller to mourn her loss. There are 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also a brother and a sister.

"Mrs. Dearth has been a semi-invalid for years and had made her home with her daughter. The past seven weeks she was confined to her bed and suffered much. All that loving hearts and hands could do was cheerfully done, but she was called to her eternal rest last Sunday evening.

"Grandma Dearth will be sadly missed in the home where she has been so tenderly cared for by all the members of her family."
