Dearth Funeral Tuesday Afternoon
Funeral services for John C. Dearth, who died at his home in Pleasant Grove Sunday, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Pleasant Grove church, in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of this city. Interment was in the nearby cemetery.
John Clinton Dearth was born Nov. 5, 1865, at Kenney, Ill., and died Dec. 16, 1928, at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 11 days.
He was married to Dora Neal on Sept. 19, 1888. Six children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy. One son Harley grew to young manhood and died in 1920.
One daughter, Mrs. Lela Sanders died in 1921. The living children are the son, Orrie, at home, and the daughter, Mrs. Bessie Kleist of Newell, Iowa. These, together with the wife and 5 grandchildren are left to mourn.
One brother Will Dearth of Decatur, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Charles Rinehart survive him. Mr. Dearth moved from Paullina to the Pleasant Grove community, about 10 years ago. He has ever been a faithful worker and an honorable neighbor. Holding the respect of his friends.
In his home life he was most appreciated. His whole life was one of devotion to his family and especially his frail wife. For her sake he made a most heroic struggle to get well during his lingering illness.
Mr. Dearth's last illness was brightened by the presence of his only beloved sister, who with her husband have been unfailing in their love and care. They together with the family will receive the sympathy of the whole community.
