Gladys Leona Tjernagel, 88, of Karen Acres Nursing Home, 3605 Elm Drive, Urbandale, died of pneumonia there Monday. Services are at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, with burial at Mamrelund Cemetery at Randall.

Mrs. Tjernagel was born in Estherville. She farmed near Ellsworth until 1958 and lived in Story City for 30 years until moving to the care center eight years ago. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Among survivors are three daughters, Gloria Thorson of Cedar Rapids, Beverly Good of Los Angeles and Lyla Hoffman of Urbandale; a son, Dean of New Hampton; and five grandchildren.
