THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, August 7, 2009.

Danny E. Swan, 58, of Des Moines, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

He was born Oct. 8, 1950, in Des Moines. He worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office for 16 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 10 years. He loved being with his family. He enjoyed riding Harleys, and going to and taking part in drag racing. He liked anything with speed, especially cars.

He is survived by his wife, Marj; one son, Todd; two sisters, Sharon Barnett and Marilyn Funke; and two brothers, Terry Spooner and Doyle Swan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lucille Campbell.
