THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, July 24, 2009.
Shirley Ann Rierson Keigan, 77, of State Center, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at the St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, at the St. Petri Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Cass Township Cemetery northeast of Webster City.
Shirley Ann Rierson was born July 30, 1931, to Selmar and Alice Wells Rierson, of Fort Dodge. She grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1949. On Oct. 19, 1952, she married Kenneth C. Keigan in Webster City. The couple resided in several Iowa communities throughout their married life, including Le Mars, Webster City, Williamsburg, Boone and most recently State Center. Shirley had a large family, and that’s what she enjoyed most. You could often find her on her front porch surrounded by her lovely flowers, with her cat, reading a book and enjoying a nice cup of tea.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; sons, Mike (Kathy), of Knoxville, Tenn., Gary (Becky), of Fort Collins, Colo., David, of State Center, Jim (Sherri), of Story City, and Tim (Tammy) Keigan, of State Center; daughters, Pam (Robert) Mack, of Fairfield, Susan (Quintin) Gerard, of Eldridge, and Stephanie (Roger) Singer, of Golden, Colo.; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Denny Ryerson, of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, LaVonne Schaeffer, of Tempe, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jerry Schaeffer.
